Paul Hansbury earned his doctorate at St Antony’s College, University of Oxford. His PhD research considered the foreign policies of ‘small powers,’ using Belarus as its primary case study. His principal ongoing research interests include the foreign and security policies of states in Eastern Europe, the South Caucasus and Central Asia, with particular reference to their relations with Russia. He presently teaches courses in International Relations and International Security. He also has a masters degree in Russian and East European Studies from Oxford, and a BA in Politics from the University of London, while his commentaries have appeared in Foreign Policy (with Christian Davies), E-International Relations, and elsewhere.
