Time: 8.30-10.00
Format: moderated roundtable discussion over breakfast; the Chatham House Rule applies
Language: English
Organizer: Minsk Dialogue Council on International Relations
The system of international relations that existed after the end of the Cold War continues to crumble. The world is in a particularly dangerous period of structural transformation. Many foundations of the former global and regional security architecture have already been lost, and a new architecture cannot yet take shape due to uncertainty about numerous parameters of the future world system.
Under these circumstances, not only political discussions but also many expert debates remain in a vacuum. Their participants continue to focus primarily on the “who to blame” question and, as a result, rarely move on to a pragmatic discussion aimed at developing realistic proposals on the “what to do” question.
The participants of the working breakfast will attempt to take a first step toward a pragmatic discussion about realistic contours of a future architecture of Eurasian security. They will share their own visions of the future of Eurasian security and identify conceptual questions to be tackled at possible follow-up Track-2 meetings.
