Aliaksandr Alesin is an independent military observer, a leading Belarusian expert on defense and military-industrial complex.
In 1973 he graduated from the department of history of the Belarusian State University. He received military training as a commander of a mechanized infantry platoon.
From 1974 to 1976, first in Minsk, and later in Moscow, he received a degree in economic and mathematical methods of production organization and automated control systems.
From 1974 to 1991 he was a system analyst of automated production and sales control systems and worked for the Ministry of the Electronics Industry of the USSR.
In 1991 he worked at Ranar on stock trading, brokering activities and bond transactions computerization.
From 1992 he freelanced at the "Belarusian market" newspaper (later "Belarusians and the Market"). From 1994 to 2015 he worked as the newspaper’s observer, and then as head of unit.
Since 2015 he has worked as an observer of the Internet-newspaper www.belrynok.by. He also freelances for a number of online publications.
His main areas of interest include market dynamics (including arms markets), the situation at industrial enterprises (including defense enterprises), military-technical cooperation between Belarus and foreign partners, political-military situation.
